Add A Little Spice To Your Soap Making Activity

By Jen Hopkins

Are you getting bored with your usual family routine? If you feel that you need to add some spice to your family time, try soap making. This is very enjoyable since it is up to you what kind of soap you would want to create. It all depends on your creativity. Once you start with this, you will see all possible soaps that you can make.

One advantage of making soap from scratch is the decrease in expenses. Raw materials for making soap are very cheap so for a specific amount that you pay for, you will be able to make a wide variety of soaps. It does not matter what kind of soap that you want because soap making allows you to be flexible with the soaps that you will make.

People often think that this is a very boring activity. But you will never know until you try this, right? You should make sure that when you start this activity with your family, you will make this fun. If the kids enjoy it, there will be more sessions for you in making soap.

Start with the "melt and pour" method of soap making. This is safer to handle especially with the kids assisting with this activity. This comes with a glycerin soap base that dries transparent. You can actually dye it with any color and add any fragrance to it. This is the perfect soap base that you can use especially when you want to make personalized soaps.

In order for your children to enjoy the art of soap making, you should give them the liberty to choose what to put in their soaps. Let them see the dyes and the essential oils that they can put in the soap. If they are able to make soap that they like, the more that they will enjoy using the soaps.

Molding these soaps also add to the fun of soap making. Crafts stores do offer a lot of soap moldings that you can use. These come in assorted shapes and sizes. Make sure to choose a silicone type of mold for your soap since it is made to be durable, non-stick but also durable. When removing the soap from the mold, the soap will retain its shape.

No matter how enjoyable soap making may be, you need to make sure that you ensure the safety of everyone. The soap base can burn the skin due to its high basicity and temperature. As much as possible, you have to prevent the soap from coming into contact with your skin. Wear the right clothing and equipment each time.

Start making soap with your family and experience a different kind of bonding. This will keep you and your children close especially in learning the things that they like. If they enjoy with this activity, you can do this on a weekly basis. - 42629
